He admitted his actions at a hearing last month but pleaded to keep his job as he suffered from PTSD after a case he worked on in 2007.

The offense carries a prison sentence of up to 10 years, and Bailly was removed from his post, where he headed the family law department in the Dijon courts, for “conduct that caused serious damage” to the judicial system. The Times reported

Bailey, whose wife, Sophie Vejoux-Bailly, is also a judge and has been admitted to the case, said he was playing out his fantasies. He never followed through.

Bailly was caught after an affiliate exchange site reported that their site had posted a photo of a child wearing a swimsuit. Then police officers, posing as men seeking sex, found Bailly.

His lawyer Pauline Neveu said that Bailly suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder in connection with the trial of rapist and serial killer Pierre Baudin in 2007, when Bailly was the main prosecutor.

Bailly said he “doesn’t feel really unworthy of this profession.” No trial date has been announced.
